Dear Colleagues

On behalf of the Arab Federation of Psychiatrists and the Syrian Arab Association of
Psychiatrists, it is my pleasure to cordially invite you to participate in the 8th Pan Arab
Conference of Psychiatry that will be held in Damascus on 21-23 August 2008.

The main themes are "Psychological Consequences of Violence" and "Evidence-
based Mental Health".

International experts have been invited, and four pre-conference workshops have been
organized under the following titles:

- Trauma focused cognitive behavior therapy
- Interviewing child victims of violence
- Critical appraisal of mental health literaturu e
- Authoring Cochrane systematic reviews

Please find attached an abstract submission form and note that the deadline for
scientific submissions is 30 May 2008. For proposals of symposia and workshops,
please contact me directly. Submissions and proposals can be made either in Arabic or
in English.

Your active participation is essential for the success of the Conference, and I am
pleased to share with you that we have received strong indications of interest to
participate even before the formal announcement.
